Scripture
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you so you must love one another.
John 13:34-35
Jesus made it clear that love is the defining characteristic of His disciples. He didn't call us to just tolerate or be polite to others but to love them as He loves us—sacrificially unconditionally and generously. This kind of love flows from our relationship with God. When we encounter His love it transforms us and enables us to love others even those who are difficult. Loving others is a reflection of God's heart and a powerful testimony to the world. It is in loving others well that we draw closer to them and ultimately closer to God.
Reflection
Is there someone in your life who needs to experience the love of Christ through you? How can you reflect God's love to those around you today?
Prayer
Father thank You for loving me unconditionally. Teach me to love others with the same kind of love. Help me to see people through Your eyes and to love them with patience kindness and grace. Let my love reflect Your heart to the world. Amen.
